Politrip 2020 Host Information

Thank you for considering becoming a Politrip 2020 host!

Without hosts providing supporter housing for our Politrippers we would not be able to run our trips and provide our volunteers with this once in a lifetime opportunity. But more than that, becoming a host is a great way for you to learn about your Politripper’s community and culture, create lasting bonds and contribute to political activism on crucial elections in your area.

To help decide whether you would like to be a host we thought the following information would be useful:

What we ask hosts to provide:

  • Provide a bed with linen – this can be a bed, sofa bed or air mattress etc. – we’re not too fussy!
  • Wi-Fi in the property (if not, we can provide volunteers with mobile data but please let us know)
  • Self-catering facilities
  • Easy access to and from the property
  • Laundry facilities (desirable)
  • If your guest is one of our Team drivers, provide space for them to park their car

What you do not need to provide:

  • No need to cook, provide food, do laundry or clean up after them
  • No need to provide lifts or show them around (although it’s great when our volunteers and
hosts get to know each other better!)
  • No other financial or in-kind support

Our Hosts

To help give you a better understanding of what it is like being a Politrip host here is what some of our previous hosts had to say about their experience:

“Hosting Politrip volunteers was a real treat. We would definitely do it again. We learned so much about Britain from them, and we so appreciated their helping to turn Orange County blue. Our two groups during Summer and Autumn were enthusiastic and interested, but undemanding. A terrific experience.”

“Hosting Rupert during his time in Iowa last summer was a pleasure. I found it a great way to help support the campaign in a different way and I felt like I was making a real difference. Rupert was a lovely house guest, he fitted into day to day life very quickly and I feel I have made a great friend. Hosting a Politrip volunteer has given me the confidence to provide further supporter housing in the future.”
